WELCOME
Poor Boy writers are Garry Roberts and Bill Blackburn who between them have more years song writing and playing in bands than they care to remember. Along the way they’ve developed grey or no hair, wrinkles, aches, pains and a lot of talent and experience. The rest they could do without the talent and experience they’ll hang on too

Garry and Bill have had a strong interest in country music for many years and have enjoyed the work of American artists such as Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Rickie Skaggs, Steve Wariner, Rodney Crowell and many more for their guitar and songwriting styles.

Garry and I played many gigs together with other friends. On stage with Pete (Left) we did a comedy sketch that always went really well as you can here. How Pete kept his face straight with all the chaos going on around him and still managing to play guitar is amazing ( Click on the picture to see one of our shows and the wig gag)

GONKS GO BEAT

In the 1960s Garry was in a band called the Vaqueros. They somehow got a contract to make a film for TITAN Films (exactly) but the film had a lot of big names like Kenneth Connor, Lulu, The Trolls, The Nashville Teens, Ginger Backer, and a very young Charlie out of Casualty (Derek Thompson). Oh by the way, you'll need a strong stomach and a full bottle of Jim Beam to watch it

THE BIG EASY

This was the last working band we where in, it was a good band five piece with a girl singer we mostly did local gigs.

Gonks Go Beat is now out on DVD
